- Inborn errors of amino acid metabolism
- Uncorrected hyperhydration, cardiac insufficiency or pulmonary oedema
- Uncorrected shock, hypoxia, severe hepatic or renal dysfunction without renal replacement therapy, disturbed metabolism or elevated electrolyte levels
- Children under 2 years of age
